The Moving Temple – open Movement Medicine class
“Put the body in motion and the psyche will heal itself.”
(Gabrielle Roth)
Everything that lives moves. It may be invisible, but something moves inside it. And we move to arrive at ourselves, to sense what is happening inside us. We move to connect with each other, with the world, to make space for the feelings and patterns that lie deep within our bodies to surface. We move to step out of our usual circles and find new paths.
The gateway to this journey is our body: the temple in which the full range of movements and the full spectrum of emotions are at home. Our body is like a temple of nature, in which the wild, the raw, and the instinctive are just as much a gateway to wholeness as the quiet, the soft, and the sublime.
We use simple exercises to help us arrive at the temple of our body, creating a spacious environment in the process. It is worth resting, lying down, moving slowly, jumping and shaking off the tensions of the past few days. Every class includes space and time for free dance without instructions.
There is also an opportunity for self-expression through drawing: in every class, there is a piece of paper on the wall on which you can draw freely while dancing, allowing your movements to create lines on the paper.
No dance training or knowledge is required, just come as you are!
You don’t need to register in advance for these classes, but if you have any questions, feel free to write to us.
